Visiting by Road
Dartmoor in your car
From the north and east of England, Dartmoor and the rest of Devon are accessed via the M5 motorway. To get to Dartmoor from London and the South East, choose routes via the A303, the M4 or the M3. Leave the M5 at Exeter (Junction 31).
For North Dartmoor take the A30 dual carriageway towards Cornwall. You can access a selection of North Dartmoor locations from the A30.
- Chagford – leave the A30 at Whiddon Down A382
- Moretonhampstead – leave the A30 at Whiddon Down A382
- Postbridge (Dartmoor National Park visitor centre) – leave the A30 at Whiddon Down A382
- Okehampton – leave the A30 at the B3260 junction
- Tavistock – leave the A30 at the A386 junction
For South Dartmoor, leave the M5 and take the Devon Expressway A38 dual carriageway towards Plymouth. You can access a selection of South Dartmoor locations from the A38.

- Princetown (Dartmoor National Park visitor centre) – leave the A38 at Peartree B3352
- Ivybridge – leave the A38 at Westover B3213
From Cornwall Dartmoor is accessible by road via either the A30 (North Dartmoor) or A38 (South Dartmoor)
